These terms apply to your use of https://maasaicuriosite.com and to any order you place with Maasai Curio Site (“we”, “us”). We are a Kenyan shop selling handmade East African curios, beadwork, textiles, carved décor and horn drinkware. You can reach us at info@maasaicuriosite.com or on WhatsApp at +254795289159.
By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Our products
Our items are handmade by Maasai and East African artisans from natural materials such as beads, leather, wood, bone, horn, gourds, cowrie shells, sisal and fabric. Because each piece is made by hand and from natural materials, size, colour, pattern and finish vary from piece to piece. The item you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This is normal and part of what makes each piece unique.
We take care to describe and photograph our products accurately, but we cannot guarantee that your screen shows colours exactly.
3. Placing an order
You can order through our website or by WhatsApp. When you place an order, you confirm that you are over 18 and that the details you give us are correct.
An order is confirmed when we send you a confirmation and, where required, receive your payment. We may decline or cancel an order if an item is out of stock, if there is a pricing or description error, or if we suspect fraud. If we cancel an order you have paid for, we will refund the full amount.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are shown on each product page and may change without notice. A price change does not affect an order we have already confirmed.
We accept the payment methods shown at checkout or confirmed with you when you order. Payment is due in full before we ship, unless we agree otherwise in writing. We do not store your full card details on our website.
5. Shipping and delivery
We ship worldwide using couriers such as DHL, FedEx and UPS. Shipping costs are shown or confirmed before you pay. Delivery times are estimates, and depend on the courier, your destination and customs clearance.
When your order ships, we send you a tracking number by WhatsApp, email or an order note. You can use it on our Track Order page to follow your parcel.
Please make sure your delivery address and phone number are complete and correct. We are not responsible for delays or loss caused by incorrect details you provided.
6. Customs, duties and import rules
Customs duties, import taxes and local fees are the buyer’s responsibility and are not included in our prices unless we say so.
Some products contain horn, bone, shells or other natural materials. Rules on importing these items differ from country to country, and it is your responsibility to check that you are allowed to import the items you order. We cannot refund or replace orders that are seized, delayed or returned by customs because of local import rules.
7. Returns, damage and refunds
If your item arrives damaged, or is not what you ordered, contact us within 7 days of delivery at info@maasaicuriosite.com or on WhatsApp, and send clear photos of the item and its packaging. We will offer a replacement or a refund.
For other returns, items must be unused, in their original condition and in their original packaging, and you pay the return shipping. Please contact us before sending anything back.
Custom-made items and items made to your specification cannot be returned unless they are faulty. Normal variation in handmade items, such as small differences in colour, bead pattern, grain or markings, is not a fault.
Approved refunds are paid back to your original payment method.
8. Care and use
Please follow the care instructions on each product page. We are not responsible for damage caused by misuse or poor care, such as soaking beadwork, leaving items in strong sunlight or damp, or using decorative items for food and drink.
Horn, gourd, wood and bone items are natural materials and can crack or fade if exposed to heat, damp or hard knocks.
9. Intellectual property
All photos, text, product descriptions, logos and designs on this website belong to Maasai Curio Site, unless stated otherwise. You may not copy, reproduce or use them without our written permission.
10. Using our website
You agree not to misuse the site, including by trying to gain unauthorised access, introducing harmful code, or using it for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or restrict access if we believe these terms have been broken.
11. Links to other websites
Our site may link to other websites, such as courier tracking pages. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or delays caused by couriers, customs, or events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law that cannot be excluded, including your consumer rights where they apply.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you placed your order apply to that order. The date at the top shows when they were last changed.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of Kenya, subject
to any consumer rights you have where you live.
