Comments
If comments or reviews are open on our site and you leave one, we collect the data shown in the comment form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymised string created from your email address (called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you use it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to our website, please do not include images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download images and extract any location data from them.
Cookies
We use cookies to make the shop work, to keep your cart and checkout running, and to understand how the site is used.
- If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you do not have to fill in your details again next time. They last for one year.
- If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login lasts for two weeks. When you log out, the login cookies are removed.
- When you add items to your cart or check out, our shop software sets cookies to remember your cart and order details during your visit.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as the cart and checkout, may stop working.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on our site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, maps or social media posts. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited that website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, add their own tracking, and monitor how you interact with the content, including when you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data
- Order and customer information is kept for as long as needed to fulfil your order and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, then deleted or anonymised.

What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have placed an order or have left comments, you can ask to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including anything you have provided to us. You can also ask us to correct or erase any personal data we hold about you, or to stop using it in a particular way. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
We handle personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, and respect the rights of customers in other regions, such as the EU and UK, where their laws apply. To make a request, email info@maasaicuriosite.com or message us on WhatsApp at +254795289159.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Because we ship worldwide and use international delivery, payment and hosting services, your information may be processed in countries outside Kenya. We only share what is needed and use providers that protect it.
